Creating a chess community from scratch
Home to 2.5 million residents and over 50 million visitors annually, Kyoto is an internationally renowned city shaped by tradition, history, and cultural exchange.
Yet one simple space has long been absent
— a chess club for people to meet through chess.
KYOCHESS was created to open that space, using the game as a shared ground for connection, learning, and belonging within the city.
