KNIGHT OUT!

Our
Story

KNIGHT OUT!

We wanted a place to play chess in Kyoto.

A board hit the table, drinks followed, strangers leaned in, and people stayed longer than planned.

We gave it a name, but the essence hasn’t changed—

A place to meet, engage, and connect over chess.

Chess

First and foremost, this is where you can play chess. This is where your chess meets the outside world.

Interaction

A student, a tourist, a parent, a dreamer, or a passerby---

We're all different, but chess connects us.

Drinks/Foods

Hey, is that a king in your hand, or is that a glass of drink?

A table to sit, move pieces with a shared drink.

Vibes

Chess brings a lot of emotions. Intensity, concentration, burning desires...here, we bring energy, a place for positivity

Maybe you're unsure of joining us...

If you are looking to play chess in Kyoto, this is the place for you.

Could be your new hobby, could be your current lifestyle.

Accentuate on your chess philosophy with us.

KNIGHT OUT! Our night

KNIGHT OUT! within KYOCHESS

KNIGHT OUT! is the flagship social chess night by KYOCHESS.

This is the time when we meet new people, and this is the time when chess connects us as a global language.

Off from busy life, off from stress - we come here, when we want positivity

What defines KNIGHT OUT!

Chess × Social: Not a tournament, not a lesson—play, talk, laugh, repeat.

Open level: Beginners, casual players, and strong locals all share the same tables.

Local × Global: A natural mix of Japanese players, international residents, and travelers.

Night energy: Low pressure, high vibe—music, drinks, conversation alongside the board.

Upon arrival...

Not sure how to be a part of the meetup?
It's really simple, you just gotta let it flow...

Ask someone nearby, or wait for an invite.

There’s no rush.
